HISTORY OF GRACE FELLOWSHIP

"On June 12, 2007, I sensed Holy Spirit speaking four things to my heart."
1)‘I’ve chosen you to lead the people’.
2)‘Now is the time’.
3)‘Step out on the water’.
4)‘I’ll provide everything you need’.
At the time I was 60 years old, serving at CBN as one of Pat Robertson’s assistants, enjoying life with my wife of 40 years, and looking forward to retirement. With much resistance, I argued my points with the Holy Spirit. I’m too old, I don’t know how to do that, I’m not equipped, I can’t do that, etc. Then He took me to the Scriptures and I knew my arguments were going to be short-lived. Isaiah 45:9 reads, ‘What sorrow awaits those who argue with their Creator. Does a clay pot argue with its maker? Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying, Stop, you’re doing it wrong!’ (NLT) I chose to submit to His will. In my experience of walking with the Lord, whenever He speaks something to me, He also confirms it; so I left for work without even telling Brenda about this ‘assignment’ that I had been given. During that day alone, the Lord confirmed His Word to me on five different occasions, quite honestly, leaving me awestruck! On Sunday, June 24th, while attending service at Jamestown Christian Fellowship, a prophetic word came that also confirmed the assignment to Brenda. That week, I met with Wade Trump, my pastor at the time, and he encouraged me to move forward with the word and the calling on my life. Several other area pastors encouraged me to do the same. I then called my friend Brian Fleming and he and Lori came along side and were an integral part in the formation of Grace during the first two and a half years. Our first service was on July 29, 2007, in our home. Two weeks later, we moved to a small storefront building in a shopping center and now the Lord has provided a wonderful Facility for us at 222 Monticello Avenue. Our Sunday worship begins at 10 AM. We also have a nursery and children's church available.

VISION, MISSION & PURPOSE

Our Vision statement is “To Love God and To Love People”

The Mission of Grace Fellowship is to love God and love each other with such fervency that unbelievers will take notice and desire to become devoted followers of the Lord Jesus Christ!

Our Purpose is fourfold:

  1. To provide a safe environment where people of every race, age, and social economic background can gather to experience the grace and love of God – Galatians 3:28
  2. To preach the message of the cross: Christ crucified, buried, risen from the dead, and seated at the right hand of God, ever making intercession for us – I Corinthians 1:18-30; Hebrews 8:1
  3. To equip the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ – Ephesians 4:12
  4. To make a positive impact on our region by sharing the Good News, that Jesus Christ has redeemed us from the curse and provided everything necessary for us to live the abundant life – Galatians 3:13
